ABOUT OUR AIR SPRINGS
Actuation products are used to provide force and motion, or support and balance depending on the application. Actuators have long been used in the industrial market as pneumatic actuators incorporated into new and innovative machinery designs as well as replacement actuators for traditional pneumatic or hydraulic cylinders. They have advantages over traditional cylinders in that they are durable, operate well in corrosive and abrasive environments, easily accept misalignment and have a high ratio of stroke to collapsed height.
Sleeve Style Air Spring
Sleeve style air springs use a flexible member with an internally molded bead. The sleeve design allows this type of air spring to be constructed with a smaller overall diameter than bellows air springs. These air springs, and air spring kits, are designed for lift and ride control. When compressed, air is forced into the spring, the two-piece sleeve extends, lengthening the assembly to achieve the desired ride height. Ideal for use as actuators and isolators in industrial applications and to applications where space is limited, and loads are light.
Rolling Lobe Air Spring
The rolling lobe air spring uses a single rubber bladder, which folds inward and rolls outward, depending on how far and in which direction it is moved. It incorporates a piston, which allows the flexible member to roll along the piston’s surface as forces change. Rolling lobe is typically used in confined spaces due to its compact design. It also benefits from a high-load capacity and reduced number of parts.
Isolation products support equipment that must remain stable while using vibration to complete work. Goodyear Air Springs are versatile and not only work to isolate delicate objects from external vibrations, but are able to support vibrating loads and prevent its energy from disturbing the surroundings. They reduce structural noise, are available in a wide range of sizes, and extend equipment life through their superior isolation capabilities.
The construction and mining industries present some of the most daunting conditions. Dirty, dusty and wet operations plague equipment with rust and corrosion that lead to broken parts. Products like Goodyear Air Springs are perfectly suited to these kinds of extreme challenges. In addition to being a sealed unit closed off to dirt and debris, a Goodyear Air Spring is a variable-rate spring that can handle differences in load while delivering vibration isolation.
Bellows Air Spring
Bellows style air springs are made from heavy-duty reinforced rubber, which is configured with either one, or multiple convoluted chambers.
Bellows air bags are typically larger than sleeve style air springs, giving them more lifting and load handling capacity. The design of most bellows air springs allows the air spring to be inflated to the desired firmness, and then deflated in similar fashion.
Because of their size and design, bellows air springs can lift with greater force at lower air pressures. For example, it may only take 35 PSI of pressure to lift 1,000 lbs. in a bellows air spring, where as it may take around 70 PSI of pressure in a sleeve style air bag to lift the same weight.
The most popular bellows air spring configurations include single, dual, and triple chamber design. Bellow air springs typically are used in heavy-duty applications where there is ample space to accommodate a larger apparatus.
